Rainbow Landscape Irrigation & Maintenance (landscape contractor) did this hardscaping and landscaping project in the city of Novato, Marin County, California. This house was recently built but the backyard had no landscape at all. The homeowner contacted Rainbow Landscape to get ideas and a free estimate for landscaping his backyard. The homeowner liked the ideas presented to him and he approved the landscape plan submitted. This project was approved in a material & labor basis.

The first thing we did was the drainage. The next step was building the outdoor custom designed backyard patio with a combination of bluestones divided with lines and a border of red bricks. This patio design also included a couple of stone stairs leading to the backdoor. Then we started building the outdoor custom designed barbecue island using solid concrete for both the foundation and walls. The outdoor custom designed BBQ set up had both countertop and walls finish done with Santa Cruz tiles. The outdoor BBQ set up has a stainless steel grill powered by a natural gas line,  side burners, sink, & utility cabinets.  Also included is an electrical line with a power outlet to plug in electrical devices to enhance the cooking experience.

The outdoor custom designed fireplace was built using solid concrete for both the foundation and the walls, powered by a natural gas line, and the walls were completed with a combination of bluestone tiles and red bricks finish to match up the new built outdoor patio. An existing block retaining wall running along the side yard of the house was resurfaced with Sonoma Fieldstone. A new outdoor custom designed waterfall along with a few garden beds were built at the end of this retaining wall and we also applied the same Sonoma Fieldstone finish.

To complete this backyard outdoor landscape project, we laid new sod around the new outdoor stone patio in the backyard. Then we planted many groundcovers, plants  and trees,  followed by the installation of an irrigation system set up to water all the new plants and natural grass areas. The last thing to add the final touch for this backyard was to mulch all the area behind the retaining wall with redwood mulch.
