Rainbow Landscape Irrigation & Maintenance (landscape contractor) did this landscape project in both the backyard and side yard of this property in the city of San Francisco, in the Bay Area, California.
The homeowners have kids and a dog. They wanted a space where their kids and pet could be comfortable and play safely. Before, it was only dirt and a few wild plants in the backyard. First, we cleared this area. Then we proceeded to do the ground preparation: excavating 3" down, hauling away the removed dirt, bringing base rock and decomposed granite, compacting and grading the new base for drainage purposes. Then we installed approximately 400 sqft of artificial grass type NW-80 with dead ends from Better Than Real Artificial Grass (www.BetterThanRealGrass.com). This artificial lawn covered the entire backyard and part of the side yard. Afterwards we planted 15 podocarpus plants in a 2-ft wide space we left along the backyard. In the side yard we planted camellias and azaleas. Then we set up a drip system to water the new landscape plants and then applied mulch in the planting areas.
