Landscape & hardscape project for backyard & front yard in Berkeley, California.

Drip system, driveway, garden bed, mesh fence, mulching, patio, planting, sod, stepstones & walkway.

Rainbow Landscape Irrigation & Maintenance (landscape contractor) worked on this property located in the city of Berkeley, Alameda County, California. This was a very ambitious project where there were different parties involved, such as general contractor, landscape architects & landscape designers. We all teamed up and we couldn't be more satisfied with the final results. Rainbow Landscape as a landscape contractor was in charge of the landscape areas in the front yard and backyard, which included both hardscape and landscaping work. Everything was done according to the landscape designs and plans approved by the homeowners.

Front yard: on the right side of the front yard, a stone walkway was built going to the back of the house. On the left side of the front yard, a stone driveway and a stone walkway divided by a landscape stripe with shrubs and redwood mulch were built. Three different sizes for the stones were used for the driveway and walkways in the front yard and the type of stone installed is called Mongolian basalt stone with flamed top and sawn edges. In the middle of the front yard, a rectangular shaped area was enclosed with a mesh fence. A wooden garden bed was built with golden colored decomposed granite spread along the side facing the sidewalk. A pathway made with 4" x 4" x 4" Mongolian cobble stones forming big square stepstones was laid out to walk from one side of the fenced area to the other side through two gates that are part of  the mesh fence. Also plants, shrubs and trees were planted to enhance the landscape in this area and redwood mulch was applied afterwards. A drip system to water all the plants with minimum water use was installed in the front yard.

Backyard: another fence with a gate made of black stained redwood posts and metal mesh covered with black vinyl was built and installed in one side in the back of the house. A stone patio with matching stone walkways were built with 4" x 2" x 1/2" Mongolian basalt stones over a sand base. A space was left for a garden bed where shrubs were planted and then redwood mulch was applied. A drip system to water the plants in this garden bed was installed. Also, there is a lawn area where we prepared the ground and laid out natural sod. Also we  set up an automatic irrigation system.
