Backyard landscaping project with artificial grass in San Francisco, Bay Area, California.

Rainbow Landscape Irrigation & Maintenance (landscape contractor) did this landscaping project in the city of San Francisco, Bay Area, California. This backyard had no landscape at all, it was covered entirely by dirt and some weeds in the far backside. There was an old and deteriorated wood fence along one side of the backyard and a chain link fence along the other side of the backyard. The homeowner required an entirely new landscape involving a redwood fence surrounding the perimeter of the backyard for privacy, artificial grass to reduce water use & cost, also to support a trampoline, a putting green area to play minigolf at home, trees with drip system, mulching and garden lighting.

The first thing to do was a full garden cleaning up to get rid of the grown weeds and other waste. Then grading the surface for the artificial grass and putting green installations. A drainage system was built to drain out rainwater from the backyard. Then a second and final grading was done again. Once we had a flat and clean surface, we started building a 6-ft tall redwood fence for privacy.  And to complete the first phase of the landscape project, we built a stone patio right in front of the backdoor, with a landing step between them.

Now it was time for the installation of the 420 sqft of putting green with 4 holes and fringe finish. Each hole of this putting ground has an underground garden light. We installed 440 sqft of artificial grass between the putting green and the stone patio. This artificial grass lawn was intended to be used as a playground area and the client had a trampoline already to be placed on this area. Garden lights were strategically installed to light up the entire backyard at night. To add a more natural touch to the artificial lawn and putting green, 6 boulder stones were placed on different spots. To finish off this landscape project, we planted trees along the perimeter of the redwood fence with an irrigation system to water these trees. And finally mulching the exposed topsoil areas.
