Rainbow Landscape Irrigation & Maintenance (landscape contractor) did this landscaping and hardscaping project in Novato, North Bay, California. This landscaping project included the construction of a custom BBQ island with a custom stone fireplace, building a new stone patio with stone pathway along the side yard, new natural grass for a lawn installation, irrigation system, mulching & planting.
We started this landscape project with demolition of the existing backyard patio and hauling away all the removed concrete. Then grading the surface and setting up the new drainage system. Then we started doing the construction of the barbecue island, which was custom-built with concrete work, natural gas line, stucco finish and natural stone for the countertop. The barbecue grill is heavy-duty stainless steel with side burners. The barbecue island also included utility drawers and fridge.
After completion of the BBQ island we proceeded to the construction of the stone fireplace. This is a custom-built fireplace, 7 ft high, made of cinderblock reinforced with 1/2" rebar, stucco finish and ornamental natural stones with natural gas line. The new patio was built with solid concrete reinforced with 1/2" rebar every 12" on center, with a square pattern on the surface and salt finish. A sealer was applied on top of the stone patio to protect the surface finish.
After all the hardscape phase (stone work) was completed, we proceed to the landscape phase. For the installation of natural lawn, we removed the existing dead grass and then proceeded to grading the grass area. We setup the irrigation system and then laid down the new sod. Planting new plants in the side yard with their respective drip system. To complete the project, the last thing we did was mulching the garden beds.
