Rainbow Landscape Irrigation & Maintenance (landscape contractor) did this hardscaping and landscaping project in the city of Mill Valley, Marin County, California. This client was already a client of Rainbow Landscape because we have been providing garden maintenance services to his property for years. The homeowners decided to improve the front yard with a garden look. They hired a landscape architect to lay out the new landscaping design plan. Once the landscape architect put the ideas together, the homeowner gave us the landscape plan to do this project.
Originally, the surface in the front yard was entirely covered by a concrete patio, which was already old and cracked. We had to demolish it and hauled away all the removed concrete. Then grading the surface and building a new base. On this base we laid out 2-ft x 2-ft step stones separated 6" on center, with ground cover in between to add a more natural look to the surface. Two steps were built with stone finish in one end of the stone patio. A natural gas operated firepit was custom-built with veneer bluestones. Resurfacing was done to the existing retaining walls with veneer bluestone finish to match up the stone firepit. A new garden lighting system was installed in the front yard with some garden lights built-in the retaining walls. As usual, to complete this project we proceeded with planting plants, shrubs and trees with a drip system and mulching the topsoil areas.
